Israel-Palestine Conflicts

We must be aware of the recent conflicts between the Israel and Palestine. The video clippings and news on papers and social media make us lamentable. An air of melancholy surrounds us all.

Thereby it’s our duty to know what’s the actual problem – the exact backdrop and circumstances for all the happenings.

The root of the problem lies back in AD 30, when Jesus Christ was crucified by the Jews… for which Jews were massacred during Roman Empire. This is the first known attack on Jews in the timeline of History.

However, from the initial stages Jews were hated for their religious background. But later they were seen of different ethnicity. As a result, in late 1800s, Jews living all over the country wanted to have a separate state for them to live a peaceful life.

In 1881, large scale of Jews migrated to the Palestine area. The reason for choosing Palestine is Jerusalem – the holy place of Jews. In the modern map, Jerusalem lies in Israel. However, in early 1800s there wasn’t an area called Israel and all were included under Ottoman Empire. Muslims, Jews and Christians lived a peaceful life under the crown rule of Ottoman Empire.

WORLD WAR - 1

British and French were fighting against Ottoman Empire and Arab. British striked a deal with Arab, to give them Palestine if their army could win the war. Similarly, some promises were made to Jews by the same Britishers. Yes, a double game. But in reality, British made a deal with French to bring down the flag of Ottoman Empire and divide its area between them. However, as the Britishers wished they won the war and Palestine was under British rule from 1918-1948.

In 1948, Palestine Nationalist Movement and Israel Nationalist Movementhappened. As the National Struggle movements went out of hand, Britishers fled Palestine. After this UN came in with a partition plan : 45% Arab State, 55% Jewish State and Jerusalem will be under International Control. Jews accepted with this and formed a country, which is called Israel (During World War 2, Hitler massacred numerous Jews. Hence they fled from Europe and seeked shelter at Palestine). However Arabs weren’t so happy with this.

ARAB ISRAEL WARS

In the 1st Arab Israel War of 1948, Israel fought against 5 other countries and finally won in 1949. As a result, a peace treaty was signed and Gaza was taken over by Egypt while West Bank by Jordan. Subsequently, in the Second War too Israel won. This time, Israel occupied West bank and a large portion of Egypt. Later in 1964, Palestine Liberation Organisation (PLO) was formed, whose aim was to own an individual country for the Jews, through armed struggle. However, USA and Israel declared PLO as a terrorist outfit.

In the year 1973, 3rd Israel Arabian War happened. Followed by that, United Nations came forward and recognised PLO as an organisation representing the people of Palestine. Soon in 1979, Egypt and Israel signed a successful peace treaty. As an outcome of this treaty, Egypt recognises Israel as a country. However Right Wing Groups of Egypt weren’t too happy with this and hence assassinated their then Prime Minister of Egypt.

In early 1992s, PM of Israel declared PLO is not a terrorist organisation and thus recognised PLO. Later, it was decided to divide the country and soon in 1994, Palestine Government was formed. Similarly, West bank was divided into 3 areas : Area A for Palestine Government, Area B of both the Government and Area C for Israel Government. But the problem didn’t end here.

In 1987, another organisation was formed, named HAMAS. It was a divided group from PLO, who felt that it was too secular. HAMAS aim was the eradication of Israel - to erase Israel from the World Map. Hence they boycotted PLO Elections by suicide bombing. Right Wing Extremist groups were formed on both sides and the hatred between Israel Palestine increased.

After this, in 2002, violent clashes and protest were staged on both the sides. Subsequently, Gaza was occupied by HAMAS Terrorists. Since then many clashes of varying scales were reported on either sides. What we are witnessing now, is one such inhuman barbaric activity.

Now my personal thoughts.

War is a disruption to peace. It isn’t the end of a problem; but that of humanity. Upon close observation of this issue, Right Wing Extremists were the ones who have been creating new chaos every time after peace. As a cost, innocent civilians are paying for it. In no way it’s ethical or logical. Look at the ten year old crying over her losses
